About

A tiny studio with one promise

Pennylume makes small apps that do one job well. They are free, they work without an account, and they keep your data on your phone.

Penny thinking

Why free?

Most free apps pay for themselves with ads and data. We think a step counter or a bill reminder needs neither. So we keep costs tiny; Kyulift also has an optional Pro upgrade. Dues and Strides are open source (GPL-3.0). Kyulift is closed source.

How the apps are made

  • On your phone first. Data is stored on the device. When an app needs the internet, its privacy receipt says why.
  • Code you can check. Dues' code is on GitHub, so anyone can check our claims.
  • Native Android. Kotlin and Jetpack Compose: fast and light on battery.
  • Paid for without ads. The optional Kyulift Pro upgrade keeps the lights on.
