Kyulift privacy policy
Last updated 9 October 2026
Kyulift is made by Pennylume. This policy covers the Kyulift Android app.
1. No account, no servers
Kyulift has no sign-up and no backend. We never receive your data: nothing is uploaded, sold or shared, and there are no ads, analytics or trackers. Optional backups go only to your own Google account or files you choose.
2. Purchases
Kyulift Pro is bought through Google Play. Google handles the payment under its own privacy policy; Kyulift only asks Google Play whether this phone's Google account owns Pro. Pennylume receives no payment details and no personal data from it. To keep the free trial to one per phone, Kyulift saves two dates in Google Play services' Block Store on this phone: when your Pro trial started (empty until you earn it at rank D) and the latest date the app saw. They say nothing about you and are never uploaded. They stay after uninstalling or Delete all data, unless you tick "Also remove the free-trial marker" in Delete all data.
3. What the app stores on your phone
Your workouts, routines, plan, body measurements, badges and settings. They stay in the app's private storage until you delete them or uninstall the app.
4. Backups
Export backup and Export CSV create files where you choose (for example Drive or email). Android backup (Settings, on by default): if Google backup is switched on in your phone settings, Android saves an encrypted copy of Kyulift's data to your own Google account so it can be restored on a new phone. Turning it off stops new backups to your Google account. It does not stop moving your data to a new phone when you set one up (Android 12 and later); that transfer goes directly between your two phones, not to Pennylume. Existing copies are managed in your Google account's backup settings. Pennylume can't see any of these copies; you control them.
5. Health Connect (optional, off by default)
If you switch it on, Kyulift writes each finished workout (name, start and end time, notes) and your bodyweight to Health Connect, and reads bodyweight entries other apps saved so your Body chart is complete. Kyulift reads no other health data. This data stays on your phone and is only used to show your own progress. You can revoke access any time in Settings or in the Health Connect app. Kyulift's use of information received from Health Connect adheres to the Health Connect Permissions policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
6. Permissions
Notifications: rest timer and the reminders you turn on. Vibration: rest timer alerts. Health Connect (only if you switch it on): write workouts, read and write weight, as described in section 5. Kyulift also uses standard system permissions that Google Play Billing, background reminders and the workout card need: billing (buying Pro through Google Play), wake lock, start at boot and foreground service (so reminders and background tasks run on time, also after a restart), and network state (whether the phone is online; Kyulift itself has no internet permission). While a workout is running, a health-type foreground service keeps the rest timer going with the screen locked and shows the workout card as an ongoing notification (a Live Update on Android 16 and later). Android requires the high sampling rate sensors permission for that service type; Kyulift reads no sensor, and the workout card only shows what you logged on this phone. The optional setting "Keep workout over lock screen" is off by default and only changes what is shown over the lock screen while a workout runs; it sends nothing anywhere. Android also adds one internal permission that only lets Kyulift's own parts talk to each other. Kyulift does not access your photos, camera, contacts or location.
7. Children
Kyulift collects nothing from anyone, including children.
8. Deleting your data
Settings > Delete all data erases everything Kyulift stores on this phone (workouts, measurements, settings and all other app data) and closes the app. Uninstalling also removes it. Only the two trial dates in section 2 stay, unless you tick "Also remove the free-trial marker" when deleting. Workouts and bodyweight already saved to Health Connect stay there; delete them in the Health Connect app. Exported files and Android backup copies are yours to delete.

Changes
- 9 October 2026: From version 2.3.0: section 6 now describes the workout card (health-type foreground service, ongoing or Live Update notification, high sampling rate sensors permission with no sensor read) and the optional lock-screen setting. Nothing new is collected or sent; coaching, readiness checks and reviews are worked out on your phone.
- 3 October 2026: This policy is now published on this website. From version 2.0.6: you can remove the free-trial marker in Delete all data (sections 2 and 8). Section 2 now says when each trial date is saved; sections 1, 4 and 6 describe backups and system permissions in more detail.
- 3 October 2026: From version 2.0.6: the Android backup switch in Settings stops backups to your Google account only; phone-to-phone transfer on Android 12 and later still works (section 4).
