Features

What Strides does

  • Steps that just work

Reads Health Connect (phone, watch or other apps) or your phone's own step sensor. Distance, calories and floors too.

  • A plan that adapts

Pick your goal and fitness level. Strides builds a 7-day walking plan on your phone and adjusts it to what you really walk.

  • Day, week, month

Clear charts with your goal line, weekly and monthly totals, averages and your best day.

  • Water, visually

A bottle that fills as you drink, quick-add amounts and gentle reminders only until you hit your goal.

  • Best time to walk

The mildest, driest daylight hour, with golden hour marked. Optional, and only your rough area is used.

  • Private by design

No sign-up, no ads, no analytics. Share progress cards when you want to, erase everything anytime.

FAQ

Questions about Strides

Is Strides free?

Yes. Strides is completely free, with no ads, no subscription and no in-app purchases.

Does Strides need an account?

No. There is no sign-up. Your steps, water log and settings stay on your phone.

Where do my steps come from?

Strides reads steps, distance, calories and floors from Health Connect, which collects them from your phone, watch or other fitness apps. Without Health Connect it uses your phone's built-in step sensor.

Does Strides drain the battery?

No. Step counting is done by the phone's low-power sensor or Health Connect. Strides only reads the totals every few minutes.

Why does Strides ask for location?

Only if you turn on the best-time-to-walk card. It uses your approximate area, rounded to about 10 km, to fetch the forecast from Open-Meteo. It is optional.

Is Strides open source?

Yes. The app is open source under the GPL-3.0 license.
