Strides privacy policy
Last updated: 1 October 2026
Strides is made by Pennylume. It has no account, no ads, no analytics and no tracking.
What stays on your phone
- Your step history, water log, check-ins, goals and settings are stored only on this phone.
- We never receive them. There is no Strides server that holds user data.
- Strides opts out of Android cloud backup, so this data is not copied to your Google account.
- Settings → Export data saves a CSV file only when you ask, to wherever you choose to share it.
Health Connect
- If you connect Health Connect, Strides reads steps, distance, active calories and floors climbed. It never writes to Health Connect.
- This data is used only to show your progress in the app. It is never sent anywhere, sold, or used for advertising.
- You can remove access at any time in Health Connect settings.
Phone step sensor
- If you choose the phone's step sensor, Strides asks for the Physical activity permission and counts steps on the phone.
Internet
Strides makes only these requests, without any identifier:
- Weather (optional): if you turn it on, your approximate location, rounded to about 10 km, is sent to Open-Meteo (open-meteo.com) to get the forecast. Your exact location is never read or sent.
- City search (optional): if you type a city instead of sharing your area, that name is sent to Open-Meteo's geocoding service (geocoding-api.open-meteo.com) to find it. Only the rounded position is kept.
- Bottle sponsor: a small file (sponsor.json) is downloaded from our website to show an optional sponsor logo. Nothing is sent back and no views or taps are counted. If the sponsor has a link, it opens in your browser only when you tap it.
Deleting your data
Settings → Erase all data deletes everything Strides stored. Uninstalling the app does the same.
Children
Strides is not directed at children under 13.
